Fundraising

Raising money for worthwhile causes is an important part of Kiwanis. Our club distributes all funds raised back into the community in several different ways.

1) Service Leadership Programs – We support our SLP’x by helping fund their initiatives and their attendance at leadership convention and events.

2) Materials for Service Projects – Club members enjoy hands-on service projects and we use funds to cover costs of materials used in those projects.

3) Local and Worldwide Kiwanis Initiatives – We provide donations to the Kiwanis International Children’s Fund and the Capital District Foundation yo support causes such as eliminating maternal/neonatal tetanus.

4) Charitable Donations – We have been able to provide donations to various organizations that operate locally such as the Reisterstown Crisis Center and the Meals on Wheels, Inc

Support Our Fundraisers

Our club has a number of fundraisers that you can choose to support and help us better our community.

Our Annual Oyster and Shrimp Feast has been conducted by our club for the past 60 years. It has been at various venues around the Reisterstown community over the years but for the past 10 years it has been at the Upperco Volunteer Fire Company’s Community Center in Arcadia, MD. The event is held on the 4th Tuesday of January.

During the months of May through September, we make and sell funnel cakes at the Upperco Volunteer Fire Company’s Demolition Derby in Arcadia, MD. We do this in conjunction with the Fire company and donate part of our proceeds back to the Fire company for their operations.

Our Annual Golf Tournament have been conducted for the past 27 years at a nearby golf course. We have been as far north as Hanover, Pa and as close as Hampstead, MD.

And our last major fundraiser is our Annual Crab Feast. The event has been conducted by our club for the past 70 years at various venues in and around Reisterstown. For the past 11 years we have been at the Upperco Volunteer Fire Company’s Community Center, in Arcadia, MD. This event is held on the 4th Tuesday of August.
